2Days 1Nite Trip to Yeosu Expo ~ Around the world and feel the technology!
Just like I mentioned in some previous posts that I got a chance to visit the-most-happening-place-here-in-Korea, Yeosu Expo for free from KTO. I went there at 9-10 June. We gathered since 8 in the morning in KTO headquarter, and arrived in Yeosu expo venue at 1. I did live tweet at that time, you could see on my account in @JalanJalanKpop twitter timeline. They gave as two-days pass card, and the card design is so cute, u could just tapped it away if u wanna go in or out the venue during that two days.
When we first arrived there, the first thing we did was finding locker. Since so many people visit Yeosu that time, all lockers that located in each gate were full, luckily on the first try, there’s one ajumma that relased hers for us. Now, lets started our journey in this venue.
The famous place in this place is aquarium and the marine life pavilion, but unfortunately the queue was so long - more than two hours, so we canceled to visit there and made plan to visit these famous place on the next day. THen, we hopped to the aquarium 4D. This place was nice, we didnt need to make a line, since we arrived by the time they opened the gate. We watched in 4D way what we gonna see in the aquarium and the marine life pavilion. The kids that sat next to me were enjoying touching the virtual dolphin, so cute!
After finished having fun in the aquarium, we chose to move to visit all over the world in International Pavilion. This place is just soo big. They have 4 main area and each area has 3floors, there are 46countries participating, including my beloved Indonesia. But, once again, since there’re soooo many people, for famous pavilion like Japan and CHina, we couldnt manage to get in, since the queue will take more than 1hour. However, in this international pavilion, I could visit more than 30 countries in a day! Some pavilions were nice for giving free giveaway, such as in Qatar, I got a pin with their flag, and Srilanka, an ajossi gave me one pin with their flag on it, not to mention lots of country who gave away pens :p
Other cool thing in this area was on above/roof of the building, there is expo digital gallery, a giant LED Screen with underwater panorama. There’re lots of street performance happened in this building, at that time, I watch Thailand dance, Cambodia ethnic performance, Turkey guard changing ceremony, and many more. Inside the pavilion, each country try their best to show how good they country is also they bring traditional stuff and food to be sold. We had lunch from one of pavilion there, since I was in the mood to eat something spicy so I ate curry and chicken masala from India pavilion.
However, my favorite among those country in that international pavilion, of course is my country’s pavilion. Actually lots of people also made a line to visit Indonesia’s pavilion, but since I could speak Bahasa, so the staff let me just in ^^ I post the video from the pavilion - the teaser one - in my youtube channel here. Inside this Indonesia pavilion you could see a miniature of Komodo, lots of batik and other traditional cloth, as well as angklung and equipment to make batik. It’s totally the same with its tagline, Wonderful Indonesia.
Since it’s almost the time to gather for Korean Wave concert, so we decided to stop our journey for the first day and planned to continue the tour after the big O show. Rite after Big O show, I walked around the expo and trust me, the nite view was awesome! I think this venue are better opened in the nite till morning, because the light is amazing! THat nite there was a DJ party, one DJ play music and people were gathering around and did some dance. However the DJ party wasnt as big as I imagined :( However, I was satisfied to look around the venue in the nite; the best part in the nite I think is the bridge and GSCaltex pavilion. If you watch Avatar movie, u’ll find something similar with the Navi’s tree. Awesome!
The venue was closed at 11PM but most of pavilion are closed at 8-9PM. There came the hard time to back home. It was so hard to find taxi, we tried to call for taxi for quite long time, but taxi said they have no cars left. So we decided to use the free shuttle provided by the expo till the City Hall. Expo provided more than 4 different line of bus to take u to other part of Yeosu. Luckily, the nice owner from my accommodation picked us up in the City Hall.
In the second day, we decided to come in early morning since we would visit Aquarium. BUT, lots of people already made a line and this was even worse. They made a line until reaching the other pavilion which is almost 2km away and staff said the waiting time would be THREE HOURS. Crazy! Since I still have ticket for Yeosu that I bought in presale on last January - so I got discount presale as well - I didnt mind not to find the Aquarium.
So, we decided to visited the other building which called as Marine Industry and Technology Pavilion. This is my favorite pavilion! In this pavilion there was a show lead by a funny guy who explained about future technology using miyok (seaweed). Seaweed that mostly only we use for food, in the future can be used as the textile product, medicine and even producing ethanol for machine fuel! The way how the host explain about this seaweed was so fun, felt all are futuristic! I totally enjoy the show even this was delivered in Korean.
After taking some pictures in Big O area, we decided to make a line for Theme pavilion. In this pavilion, you could see a real-time interactive exhibition, story about the sea and explaining other issues related to marine, such as wastes and global warming. This is also an interesting pavilion. After finished watched the show you could visit to the third floor and see lots of technology exhibitions.
Now it’s time to move to other part of expo venue, to see the individual company pavilions. Popular company in Korea such as Hyundai, Samsung, SK, LG, GS Caltex, Lotte, Naver and Posco are open their pavilion for us to visit. The first stop was Posco, my first impression was DAEBAK! You will feel the experience like the one u see in the movie. Lots of cool stuff in this pavilion. They had performance about air balloon that can do dancing without any human help. Also the digital shadow on the wall will follow ur motion, just like an ordinary shadow. epic!
Then I moved to the-one-that-beat-Google-in-Korea, Naver. Naver pavilion gave me free fan - a savior in this summer day - and they do promotion for naver apps and lots of Naver Line sticker standing figure was shown. I took picture with the standing figure since I am also Naver Line user.
After finished taking picture, I visited Lotte pavilion. In the first part, you will see a unique performance with people that dressed in environmental costumes - flower, tree, bee etc. Then came the best part, got an experience to try the simulation of using air balloon. The presenter said that it feel that u’ll get would be the same as if we enter the air balloon. This simulator was awesome even the digital screen and the effect made me dizzy..kkk
Then we stopped by in GS Caltex pavilion watched one movie about marine life. After that we went to Hyundai pavilion. In front of Hyundai pavilion there’s robot dancing kpop song performance. It was cute tough..^^ Then, it was the time to gather with others and take tour to Odongdo Island. You could see my story about Odongdo Island in my previous post.
So, Yeosu wait for me ya~to watch 2pm next month, I’ll be back~~~
